9 Small Businesses You Should Shop from this Holiday Season
Over the last couple of weeks, we have released a couple of Christmas gift guides to encourage you to shop ethically this holiday season. We want you to shop differently this year and support businesses that are promoting good in this world. If you haven’t read these lists yet, then you need to read them first. You can read our first gift guide about nine ethical clothing brands here. And you can read our 12 amazing brands to shop from for stocking stuffers here.
This week we have nine small businesses that we think you should shop from for holiday gifts. Each business sales something unique and different. We have included everything from candles to journals to unique prints. We would also love to know what your favorite small business you would include in this. And be sure you get your Home Free Tees order in soon as well!
I was connected to Rashidat through Facebook. (Despite what you may think good things still happen on social media sometimes.) We set up a time to chat about the fact that we are both passionate about this same things. Helping women in developing countries through the avenue of textiles and creativity. She is super rad. She is a nurse, has a background in the fashion industry, is living in Spain, and has a dream of impacting the lives of women in Malawi. She is currently selling journals made from beautiful fabric from Malawi to help fund raise toward this goal. These journals are the perfect gift to get your friends this Christmas. Who doesn’t love a journal sold with a good cause?
If you are not quite sure what to get the fun loving hipster in your family, then I have an answer for you. My friend Sarah is an amazing collage artist and makes the coolest things out of vintage magazines. You can buy prints of her work on Society6. They are so fun and I want all of them if any of you were wondering what to get me for Christmas. But make sure to give her a follow on Instagram, she sometimes offers coupon codes in her Instagram stories. @saraheisenlohr. The link to her Society6 shop is in her bio.
Adventure Peak Supply is another Bozeman based t-shirt company that reflects our adventurous lifestyle. I met the owner when she offered to sell me the leftover shirts she was not going to use for screen printing. They have adorable designs that are full of puns so you know I am in. She sells shirts, stickers and mugs. This a perfect shop to fill your stockings with. I love getting to know and supporting small shops and fellow Bozeman people in their small business ventures. Follow them on Instagram @adventurepeaksupply.
Wilder Bonnets is run by my friend Olivia. She creates the most adorable bonnets and bows for babies using materiel she gets at second hand stores. She has a passion to see people make more environmentally sustainable choices. Follow her and her adorable baby Leo at @wilderbabygoods.

If you need some fun loving greeting cards this holiday season, this is the Etsy shop you need in your life. Check out my friend Maggie’s Etsy shop and find the perfect card to go with your Christmas gifts. Or just the perfect card for any event or person in your life. Um… and can I say the fact that she has Lesley Knope and Maya Angelou quotes makes me so happy! They are adorable and so fun just like Maggie.
Lichen and Pines is a letterpress company started by Elisheba and her work is beautiful. The cards are inspired by nature and our little town of Bozeman. Two things we love to love. Follow her on Instagram @lichenandoines. Shop her cards and gift tags in local shops around town like Heyday. And contact her if you need custom cards made.
A Painted Life
Meet one of my dearest friends Danae and check out her amazing watercolor artwork. Give her a follow on the Instagram @a_painted_life_shop, send her a message about commissioning a custom piece or ask her about prints she has on hand. I love watching my friends do things they are amazing at and love. Make sure to follow Danae’s journey to becoming a world famous watercolor artist!
This sweet little candle shop was started by my friend Kelsay who put two things she is passionate about, candles and prayer, together. Each candle you order comes with a hand written prayer. Also, 100% of the profits will go to a non-profit. These candles would make a perfect gift but just be sure to order by Dec. 14th!
